Employees want clearer guidance on how to greet office colleagues

Research conducted by Opinium on behalf of Totaljobs has found that three in four employees want the amount of physical contact they experience in the workplace reduced.

Out of the 2,002 adults questioned by jobs site Totaljobs, one-third of employees have suffered awkward greetings from colleagues, and one in four have avoided a colleague or client because of the way they were greeted.

For many, all kinds of social greetings were uncomfortable. Two in five people said they found greetings of any kind to be awkward, whilst a quarter of those surveyed saying that they had become ‘trapped’ in an unwanted hug or display of personal affection.
