Majority of Brits support school climate strikers

A recent study by Opinium for the Conservative Environment Network has found that more than half of Brits (53%) supported youngsters leaving their lessons to demonstrate in the global youth strike on climate action.

The survey’s findings reveal widespread support for the climate strikes, which saw thousands of students across the country marching in protest of climate change on March 15th, following the first UK march on February 15th. The strike was part of a global action day in more than 100 countries, inspired by teenager Greta Thunburg who protests every Friday outside Sweden’s parliament to urge leaders to tackle climate change.

The research also suggests that Brits want more to be done to tackle climate change, with 70% saying it is important that the Government reduced greenhouse gas emissions to zero as soon as possible.
