Millions of baby-boomers still have a blind-spot when it comes to drink driving

A recent study untaken by Opinium on behalf of Direct Line has found that more than 1.6million motorists over 55 have driven whilst over the limit. A further 3.6 million drivers over 55 admitted that they could have been over the limit at some point whilst behind the wheel.

The research also found high levels of misunderstanding and ignorance around the effects of alcohol and the impact it has on an individual’s driving ability.

One million older drivers thought men could drink more than women and remain safe behind the wheel and the same number believed that eating a large meal before driving would offset the influence of alcohol on the body.
