Snap and send back

Research conducted on behalf of Barclaycard has found that 1 in 10 shoppers confess to buying clothes just to pose for a picture on social media before sending them straight back to the retailer.

The rise of try-before-you-buy policies that allow customers to order clothes online and only pay for what they later decide to keep is thought to be contributing to the “snap and send back” trend, with two fifths (19%) admitting to posting an image of a new purchase on social media and then returning it.

Within this 19%, men (12%) appear to be more self-conscious than women (7%) about appearing in the same outfit twice.
