UK adults are hiding secret debt from their partners

Opinium’s recent survey for Direct Line Life Insurance has demonstrated that married couples are increasingly hiding debt from each other.

The study found that 61% of people said they would rather discuss their political beliefs instead of their financial situation with their married partner, and that 30% of married respondents stated that their financial situation was not any of their partners business.

More interestingly, married respondents who had hidden debts were twice as likely as others not to disclose their borrowing to avoid arguments. The survey indicates the amount of people willing to hide their debts from a loved one, and is an apt reminder for you to stay on top of your finances for you and your partners sake.
